The science of psychology creates many definitions that are extremely useful in the endeavour of creating a definition. Utilizing multiple definitions and understanding that multiple fit and change over time is an important part of placing labels. There are four attachment styles; secure,  anxious (preoccupied), avoident (dismissive), and fearful (disorganised). It is widely accepted that the secure attachment style is the golden standard, which sounds reasonable. This is one that I strive for daily. The question is, though, how do these attachment styles play out in daily life, in particular the anxious attachment style.

Whatever your attachment style it is expressed in every moment in every day. You might not always see these aspects and often the negative ones you have overcome. Every now and then, a negative aspect arises out of this style. We all aspire to be secure in our everyday lives and deal with our anxiousness or avoidance in our own ways. Weather with the friends, activities, or pets, we surround ourselves with comfort.

Christians are called to sacrifice themselves for the sake of the Gospel. (Romans 12) To love one another and to be zealous for the gospel. The balance of sharing the gospel and loving one another is a forever learning and growing exercise. To keep being zealous for the gospel and kind and compassionate to those receiving this gospel message for how they want to be approached. In the same way, knowing how you interact with people and growing in those interactions to grow the gospel in you and in those around you.

Although anxious, the armour of God is a way to confront the flaws in our nature (Ephesians 6) . Knowing what the truth is the Gospel, your past and what your standing for. Knowing you are pursuing righteousness and there is nothing you have done lest it be a learning experience putting more armour on. Being ready to bring peace not to stand by but run and chase it down rather than “sleeping on it.” Having the shield of the Gospel as a fortification, knowing it has been done, there is nothing to be done. The word of God, which draws fine lines between right and wrong.

The anxiousness is extinguished by the gospel as there is nothing to fear but the gospel itself. To be in the pursuit of being better for the gospel. To shine its light rather than your own in and endever to be good enough. Thus, the availability to persue the armour of God and dispel any insecurities.

We will always struggle. My anxiousness is a barrier, but the gospel means I have nothing to be ashamed of and can confront every situation, knowing my goals are righteous and testable through the spirit truth.
